Join the orignial hunt test organization, founded in 1983, that developed the basic standards for testing hunting retrievers. The NAHRA program includes the all inclusive Standard Field Testing program that incorporates test for marking, blind retrieves, trailing, quartering for dogs who hunt both upland birds and waterfowl. Our Upland Retriever Program focuses solely on upland hunting and includes the same array of tests.
NAHRA's purpose is to identify and reward dogs that can meet the hunter's needs in the field by performing in a manner consistent with the demands of real-world hunting conditions. The purpose is to test the dog's natural ability and training, not to confront the dog with trick problems. Dogs compete at the level of their ability, not age. The compete against a standard for that level and do not compete against other dogs..
NAHRA has clubs throughout North America and continues to test and reward hunting retrievers while maintaining computerized records of those dogs and their working accomplishments.
